Doctors talk on addressing challenges; Improving TB Care

As part of the World Tuberculosis Day 2025 observance, The Department of Pharmacy Practice, K.T.N College of Pharmacy organized a specialized session on March 24, 2025, from 01:00 to 02:00 pm emphasizing the critical importance of early detection and management of Tuberculoisis. The session featured Dr. Vijithkumar K, senior consultant in general medicine from Valluvanad Hospital, Ottapalam, who shared his extensive expertise with an attentive audience comprising third-year and fifth-year Pharm D students, as well as interns. The session provided a comprehensive overview of TB, covering its epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment protocols, and preventive strategies. The lecture also emphasized the global and national efforts to eradicate TB, in line with the initiatives set by the Government of India.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Aparna K.S., Assistant professor in the department of Pharmacy practice, who highlighted the significance of World TB Day and the importance of raising awareness about the disease.
Following the expert session, Mr. Irshad, Pharm D intern, led the pledge against TB as directed by the Government of India, reaffirming the commitment of students and faculty to the cause of TB elimination.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. S. Rajarajan, professor and Head of the department of pharmacy practice, expressing gratitude to Dr. Vijith Kumar for his insightful session. As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to Dr. Vijith Kumar for his valuable contribution.
