The Department of Pharmacy Practice at K. T. N College of Pharmacy organized a National Deworming Day Awareness Programme on 6th January 2026, in collaboration with the Family Health Centre (FHC), Chalavara, Mundakkottukurissi, under the theme “Dewormed children are healthy children.” The programme aimed to create awareness about helminthic infections, educate students on their prevention and management, promote National Deworming Day as per National Health Mission (NHM) guidelines, and ensure the safe administration of Albendazole tablets to eligible students. The event
was inaugurated by Dr. K. S. G. Arulkumaran, Principal, K. T. N College of Pharmacy, who highlighted the role of educational institutions in student health promotion. The awareness session was conducted by Ms. Kiranmary Paul, Assistant Professor, covering
the causes, prevention, management, and control of worm infestations. Following the session, Albendazole 400 mg tablets were administered to 130 students below 19 years of age, including 108 girls and 22 boys from B. Pharm, D. Pharm, and Pharm. D courses.
Dr. Rajarajan, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, delivered the vote of thanks, emphasizing the importance of deworming and healthcare professionals’ role in public health awareness. The programme successfully enhanced student knowledge regarding helminthic infections, ensured safe deworming therapy, and encouraged active participation, with feedback collected for monitoring and future improvement.
