FIRE MOCK DRILL

Objectives of the Mock Drill

1. To create awareness among students and staff regarding fire safety.
2. To practice safe and orderly evacuation procedures.
3. To demonstrate the correct use of firefighting equipment.
4. To evaluate the emergency response preparedness of the institution.
5. To identify gaps and areas for improvement in fire safety management.

Drill Scenario

A simulated fire emergency was initiated in the teaching block and hostel. A simulated fire emergency was initiated, and the information was conveyed through verbal announcements and direct communication by Emergency Fire Safety Committee members and floor wardens. Students, faculty members, and hostel residents were instructed to evacuate the premises through the designated emergency exits in a calm and orderly manner.

Evacuation Process

1. A simulated fire emergency was initiated in the teaching block and hostel.

2. Floor wardens guided occupants to the nearest emergency exits.

3. Students and staff assembled at the designated assembly point.

4. Attendance verification was conducted to ensure all individuals were safely evacuated.

5. Emergency response team monitored the process to ensure safety compliance.

    Firefighting Equipment Demonstration

    A practical demonstration on the use of firefighting equipment was conducted. Participants were trained on the operation of fire extinguishers, including the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).

    1. Demonstration of fire extinguishers (Dry Chemical Powder).
    2. Explanation of different classes of fire and suitable extinguishers.
    3. Hands-on practice session for selected staff and students.
    4. Instructions on emergency reporting procedures.

    Observations

    The evacuation was completed in an orderly manner. Participants responded promptly to the alarm, and assembly procedures were followed correctly. Minor areas for improvement were noted in terms of response time and awareness of secondary exit routes.

    Outcome of the Drill

    The mock drill successfully enhanced awareness regarding fire safety measures and emergency preparedness. The institution demonstrated satisfactory coordination and response during the simulated emergency.

    Conclusion

    The Fire Mock Drill conducted on 27 February 2026 at KTN College of Pharmacy was effective in evaluating the institution’s emergency preparedness and safety response mechanisms. Continued training and periodic drills are recommended to maintain a high level of fire safety awareness.
