WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY 2026

The NSS Unit of K.T.N. College of Pharmacy organized a Poster Making Competition on 02 June 2026 in observance of World No Tobacco Day. The programme was conducted for students of B.Pharm, Pharm D, and D.Pharm courses with the objective of creating awareness regarding the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine addiction among the student community

The theme of the competition was:

“Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction”

The programme commenced at 2.00 PM in the Old Seminar Hall. Dr. K.S.G. Arulkumaran formally inaugurated the competition and addressed the participants on the importance of anti-tobacco awareness initiatives and the role of students in promoting a healthy society free from tobacco addiction.

A total of 10 groups participated in the competition, with each group consisting of two students. The participants enthusiastically presented creative and informative posters highlighting the dangers of tobacco use, nicotine addiction, and preventive awareness measures.

The posters were evaluated by a judging panel comprising:

  • Mr. Ramkumar R P
  • Dr. Vijeesh Govindan
  • Mrs. Aswathy S R

The evaluation was based on creativity, relevance to the theme, presentation, clarity of message, and overall impact. The best three groups were selected for prizes and certificates were issued.

Following the evaluation, Dr. K.S.G. Arulkumaran announced the winners and congratulated all participants for their active involvement and creative contributions.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jagannath P, who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, faculty members, judges, NSS coordinators, and students for making the event a success.

The competition served as an effective platform for students to express their ideas creatively and to spread awareness about the harmful consequences of tobacco and nicotine addiction.

Outcome of the Programme:

  • Enhanced awareness among students regarding tobacco-related health hazards.
  • Encouraged creative participation and social responsibility among students.
  • Promoted the message of a tobacco-free and healthy society.
